“Leading UK healthcare companies met with UK Business Ambassador Lord Darzi yesterday as he led a delegation of NHS Trust Chief Executives around the UK pavilion at Arab Health.

Lord Darzi, the UK’s Global Ambassador for Health and Life Sciences, led the delegation, which included Kate Lancaster of Papworth Hospital

NHS Foundation Trust, Caroline Shaw of Christie NHS Foundation Trust and Alison Shutt of Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.

The group stopped and talked to many companies along the way – including companies such as Sunflower Medical, Pland Stainless and Inditherm.

Jamie Fisher, Sales Director for Pland Stainless, said: “It was a great opportunity for us to present the company and what we do to Chief Executives from the NHS.

“We are very proud of the history of our company, which is steeped in our ability to manufacture quality products in Britain to export around the world.

“British manufacturing is revered around the globe, particularly in the Middle East, for a tradition of quality and excellence – and it’s very encouraging to have that tradition supported by such leading figures in healthcare.”

Sunflower Medical showed Lord Darzi new designs of its Medical Notes Trolley, which has been made in line with the NHS’s future plans to become paperless.

Nick Bettles, Chief Executive of Inditherm, spoke to the delegation about the company’s series of patient warming devices and ways to improve NHS product adoption.

Lord Darzi is at Arab Health to support the launch of Healthcare UK, a new organisation set up by UK Trade and Investment, Department of Health and the NHS to promote Britain’s world leading healthcare sector to international customers.

Health Minister Earl Howe, who officially launched Healthcare UK, also pledged his support for UK healthcare companies when visiting the pavilion earlier in the day.
